Hi, Da-Da!

On Saturday, we got up and had breakfast and then Jeremy went outside to mow the yard. Will was most interested in what his daddy was doing and every time Jeremy would walk by the window Will would say, "Hi, Da-Da!" What a joyful sound! Will is becoming more verbal each day and has very consistent "words" for Reilly (our cat), Samson (Pat and Amy's dog), thank you, and others. He won't, however, even try to say "mama". I am convinced that this is okay with me because once he learns to say it he'll never stop!! I guess all of those years of students saying "Mrs. Norris, Mrs. Norris, Mrs. Norris" over and over again have left an impression on me. I only hope that when Will learns to say "mama" that he will also learn the accompanying finger-poke in my leg!

Have a great night!

When the "poop" hits the fan...

You know it's going to be one of those days when Jeremy yells, "Honey, come quick and run a bath!" Well, I knew that he just went to get Will up for the morning, so I ran in to investigate the crime scene. Let's just say that I spent most of the 8:00 hour scrubbing poop from most of the surfaces within Will's reach. I'm not exactly sure what happened between the hours of midnight and 7:30 but it wasn't pretty. Thankfully, Will likes to take a bath and was super excited to get to take one first thing this morning (as shown by his sweet, clean face). Anyway, we hope you have a great Friday, too!

P.S. Please tell me that my kid isn't the only one to ever have such a gross adventure!!

Happy B'day, Papa!

Dear Papa,

I hope that you had a great birthday yesterday. When I see you (soon, I hope!) I will give you the gift that I had my mom pick out for you. I think that you'll like it. Anyway, happy birthday!

Love,

Wilbur

Home Again, Home Again, Jiggity-Jig

Well, we finally made it home after another trip to Smyrna. We were lucky enough to be able to stay at Pat and Amy's house (big, big thanks!) which helped Will feel more at home. We had the chance to spend lots of quality time with both family and friends while Jeremy worked at Vandy. He was able to meet us to do a few things, but Will and I were able to play a lot during the day. On Monday, Will and I met Ashley and girls (Sophie and Macklin) and Becca and boys (Eli and Jonah) to play. I was glad to be able to visit with the girls and Will was glad to crawl around! Aren't these the cutest kids ever?

P.S. Alison took (or attempted to, anyway) Will's 9 month pictures. However, Will has developed an independent streak and a knack for crawling away. Alison was as patient as ever and I only wish I could say the same about myself. She did get a great picture of Will in his overalls to continue with his year panel. Check out her blog and see what you think!

Happy Birthday Grandmommy!

Today is Grandmommy's birthday! We hope that you had a great day and hope to see you soon! We love you!

P.S. We're off to Smyrna tomorrow. We'll be back on Wednesday with lots of new pictures of all of the fun things that we did. Have a great weekend!

The Tooth...You Can't Handle the Tooth!

After much cajoling (and trips turning upside down) I was finally able to get a shot of Will's top teeth. I'm sorry that you aren't seeing his entire cute face but I wasn't about to show his yucky nose and messy cheeks! Bathtime is usually after supper, but tonight we took advantage of the cooler night to play outside first.

Will is not usually a fan of playing in the grass but tonight he decided to explore. You can see the slight hint of a smile (simply because he thinks that eating grass is so much fun) as he touches the grass.

This picture is courtesy of Aunt Rachel who braved the unkempt lawn (sorry Jeremy!) to get down on Will's level. I hope those are sleepy eyes and not allergy eyes!!

Tuesday's Tales

Hello all! Sorry for the sporadic posts but it's been busy around here. We went to Smyrna for the weekend for Uncle Jared and Aunt Katie's wedding shower. We were so happy to get to go to church (FBC Smyrna) and see all of our friends. We are going again this weekend so Jeremy can do some work at Vanderbilt. Alison is going to take Will's 9 month pictures so stay tuned...

Will started another session of Kindermusik this morning. He has been going to music since he was 3 months old. Needless to say, this session is going to be more interesting! Now that he crawls, he was everywhere! At least he isn't the only crawler! Maybe I can count Kindermusik as a workout!?!

Will is cutting 4 teeth (yes, 4). I have tried my best to take his picture when he is laughing but he clamps his lips shut (as shown). I guess it will take a professional like Alison to get the right shot!

Weekend Update With Will Norris

This weekend Will was lucky enough to get a visit from his Uncle Jared and (almost) Aunt Katie. We had a great time! We went to Dollywood on Saturday (with Grandmommy and Grandaddy, too) and then went swimming at Jason and Rachel's. It was very relaxing after a hot, hot day! On Sunday, we spent a lot of time napping and then battled the no-tax crowd at Target. Exciting, I know. Anyway, we hope everyone had a great weekend, too!

P.S. This is what a 25 minute power nap does to you! Isn't this the worst picture ever!?! (We couldn't resist!)

Life is Good (Part 1)

We're back! Thanks to all of our devoted "Will-Watchers" for checking in to see what the Norris household is up to. We know that it's been FOREVER since we've posted (or at least this is what we've been told!) so I thought I would show a few pictures of what we've been up to for the past few weeks.

Will has mastered the art of climbing the stairs. Our lives are now over! Please note what he is climbing toward...run, Reilly, run!

The Zehrs came and spent some time with us. We took all of the kids to a studio to get a picture made for my parents. The big kids did great; the little kids...not so great. We were, however, very pleased with this picture. At least everyone is looking at the camera at the same time!

This picture is from today. Will is so cute! He is cutting 2 more teeth (1 on top, 1 on bottom) and is constantly running his tongue over his gums. He looks like an old man without his dentures!

On a side note, Will and I would like to congratulate Jeremy on the issuance of his first patent. It has been in the works for a couple of years but was finally issued in July. We love you and are very proud of your hard work.

P.S. If you want to know what the patent is about you'll have to ask Jeremy. Will and I aren't fluent in Mass Spectrometry speak!

Life is Good (Part 2)

After a week of playing with his cousins (Hello Elijah, Macklin, and Sophie!) Will was so tuckered out that he fell asleep while swinging. (I won't tell you that his daddy was sitting in a chair right beside Will's swing just napping away, too!)

Uncle Jared came by for a few minutes on his way back to Middle Tennessee. Jared tried to jam with Will. Although Will loves to play the guitar, he was more interested in the camera than playing music with Uncle Jared.

Will had a taste of his first sucker at Aunt Rachel and Uncle Jason's new house. Needless to say, he LOVED it! Thank goodness for Shout stain remover!

After eating the sucker Will decided to take a "swim" with Aunt Rachel in their new pool. Maybe we can be more prepared next time!?!

Life is Good (Part 3)

Will is getting close to walking so we bought him a handy-dandy push toy. Obviously he thinks it is more fun to ride the toy. Oh, well. He'll walk one day!

We also went to visit Will's great-grandmother, Mamaw Norris. We are glad that we live close enough to visit and we hope to see her again soon!

At the end of July Will and I took a road trip to Church Hill to eat a cheeseburger from the Dairy Hart. My Auntie Ann and Uncle J.C. closed the doors to their yummy restarurant after 42 years in business. We wish them well but their food will be missed!

Will loves to play with his toys. He hasn't, however, mastered the art of cleaning them up!
